Fashion & Lifestyle Blog by Ploy

Hi everyone! I realized it's been two years since I last bought a Chanel bag, and I’d like to share why I stopped buying them. However, I still purchase their accessories like wallets and shoes.

  1. The Price Increases
The frequent price hikes have been a major deterrent for me. A few years ago, when I started my collection, Chanel bags like the Wallet on Chain were around 2k SGD, which was much more affordable compared to now. I bought a mini rectangular flap for 4k SGD in Paris, but today, that same bag costs nearly 8k SGD if it’s made of caviar leather. These days, I feel like I have to spend between 6k and 8k SGD just to get a bag from Chanel, and the classic styles are completely out of my price range.

  2. The Quality
There have been claims that Chanel’s bag quality has declined. My most recent purchase was a small Coco top handle, and I found the quality to be as expected. However, with these ongoing rumors, I’m uncertain if their newer bags will live up to the price tag.

  3. The Alternatives
I’ve started exploring other brands that offer much more affordable prices while maintaining high-quality standards. Brands like Polène, Mansur Gavriel, Senreve, Cuyana, Strathberry, Demellier, Yuzefi, and Songmont are just a few examples. Considering the price and quality they offer, I feel like it’s a much better investment.

  4. My Collection is Full
After collecting Chanel bags for around 7 or 8 years, I’ve reached a point where I have all the pieces I want. I’ve figured out which bags I use and which I don’t, letting go of some and keeping others. I feel content with my collection and don’t see the need for any more, especially the seasonal styles. Currently, I own the mini rectangular flap, mini square flap, Wallet on Chain, Deauville tote, Gabrielle, Coco top handle, and a mini vanity bag.

What do you guys think? Do you still buying Chanel bags?

happy saturday!

I'm meeting my friend for brunch today at Spruce cafe near Hillview MRT. I'm wearing a mini white dress from Lovet. I love the pattern - if you look closely it is bow/ribbon pattern which is quite cute.

I carry a puffy bag from gentlewoman that I bought from Bangkok in the previous trip. This is like their new dumpling bag collection. They have this dumpling bag in several colours and mostly sold out at the time I was there. I personally want the pink one but I got the white which is nice too. The white/light beige is neutral and easy to wear.

I wear a necklace from byinvitedonly which is also SG local fashion jewelry brand. This is their floral collection that launched during spring months. The design is flower. The necklace is in rose gold.

happy weekend :)

Hi everyone! I found the wedding gown that I love after keep hunting for quite sometimes and made a few mistakes. I only have 2 weeks left before the wedding and I have yet to settle it. My criteria for the wedding gown is beautiful lace with sparkle details. However, not every sparkling gown with comes with floral beautiful laces that I like. European dresses seem to be the answer.

I have made my decision to go for Love Wedding Atelier and my decision is certain this time without hesitation. Me as a person who falls for mermaid for all along, I end up with A line silhouette instead and I'm not regret I chose this beautiful A line for my wedding. My wedding gown is from the designer: Giovanna Alessandro. We rent the dress for oversea wedding in Thailand.

I had this beautiful piece for around 2 months now and I'm so happy that I had it. There are many colors to choose from but my top 3 would be: black, white and blonde havana (brown).

I choose white because it looks very stylish and goes well with my outfits. I like to wear dresses and feminine style. Colors in my closet are majority in white, beige, light brown, pink, and light yellow. While I think black looks so classic and very attractive, I also love the white frame which I never had one before.

Here is the honest review: 9/10

I have to minus 1 here because of the white frame. While it is so pretty, it gets dirty so easily. Sometimes I put it in my bag and forgot to keep in its box. It has a small dot on it which I have no idea where is this from. Luckily, most stains are removable. However, stains from ink for example, may not be easily remove. So I think you need to be careful if choosing white frame sunglasses.

Other than that, I just love it. The style is chic, the material is in great quality, the weight is not too heavy.

Where to buy

I bought it from MyTheresa at S$540. It is cheaper than other sites in my opinion. The price now goes up to S$620 on Celine website. That's the big different isn't it. You can shop on MyTheresa here

I'm so obsessed with the pastel green recently. I bought a few bags and shoes with this shade of color. This is the OOTD of the day and I just love the size and the color of this bag. The sandals go very well with the outfit.

I'm exploring downtown core in Singapore and I just love this beautiful historical building - Chijmes. Here is the place where you can find several instagramable angles. there are many food and restaurants in the area so you don't have to worry if you are hungry or thirsty.

I'm wearing a dress from Pomelo. It's the floral mini dress with long sleeve and show a little bit of my shoulder. I'm carrying a Kate Spade bag. This is a two tone bag with ox blood red and light pink colors. It is a mini bag, yet roomy to all big size phone. There is a zipper pocket in the middle where you can put your small wallet in a secure compartment.

I create some similar look below for you too:

First Impression

Let's talk accessories. I'm the person who doesn't own a lot of jewelry as I seldom wear them. In my collection, I probably have just 2-3 necklaces. I don't have fashionable rings or bracelets. However, in the recent years, I plan to add more to my collection as I feel having accessories make my look more complete.

I was looking for a simple piece that is classic and keep its value through time. Alhambra necklace from Van Cleef & Arpels wins my top list. It has a simple classic style that will always be trendy. It goes so well with any type of outfit, whether it's a dress or a casual top and shorts. I got this piece from Bangkok during my wedding trip. It was unplanned, I just walked in by chance if I could get one. The SA said there are last two of these necklaces in white pearl shade.

I find the white pearl color is the most practical and easiest to wear. The fact that it won't get easily scratch and easy to take care is also a plus point. Just don't take it to swim, especially swimming in the sea. In the future, I'd be interested in the butterfly pendant

Practical: 10/10
Easy to take care: 9/10
Price: currently at 3,800 SGD

Dupes/Alternatives

It's not hard to find alternative. There are similar types of accessories made with mother of pearl.

Happy Friday! Brighten the day with this beautiful maxi dress in daffodil shade. I love the feminine look of this dress. It is from Love Bonito. I also brought my mini Gucci padlock out with me today. For accessories, I picked pearl pendant necklace that I love. It fits so well with dresses and feminine style. My sandals are in light beige and they are from Charles & Keith. #ootd

Happy weekend :)

I went to Clarke Quay for lunch. Most shops were still closed during day time, but some are still opened. It will be very lively at night here. I love Singapore colonial shophouses, here they painted the shophouse buildings in so many lovely pastel colors.

I wear white shirt top from Uniqlo | midi skirt from taobao (I love this shop) | white lace strap heels from Charles & Keith (or similar here , here) | mini sling bag in Dolomia from Furla
